Founder
Ernestia Fraser, the founder of EverythingEnglish242, is a distinguished and traditionally published author, international award-winning poet, and accomplished screenwriter. She holds dual B.A.s in English and Communication from Messiah College, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing: Screenwriting from Chatham University. Her extensive academic and creative experience positions her as a key figure in promoting English studies and creative expression in The Bahamas.
As an Assistant Professor in the School of English Studies at the University of The Bahamas, Fraser has made significant contributions to both academic and creative writing instruction. Her passion for guiding students to find their voice and improve their writing skills is reflected in her teaching of courses such as Creative Writing and Composition. Beyond the classroom, she serves as the Coordinator of the University Writing Centre, leading the development of programs that enhance both academic and creative writing for students across the university.
Fraser’s literary contributions are nationally recognized. Three of her books—Carnival of Love: A Tale of a Bahamian Family (memoir), The Island of Shelbie Mott (fiction), and Shallow Water: A Short History of Where I’m From (poetry)—are included in the national literature curricula for both the BJC and BGCSE exams in The Bahamas. In 2014, she received the prestigious Daily News Prize for her poem “The Way We Dance,” adding to her accolades as an award-winning poet. Her screenplay Inside the Fallen Moon won 1st Prize in the 2011 Hollywood Black Film Festival International Storyteller Competition, and her latest screenplay, White Raven, was a quarterfinalist in the 2023 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenwriting Competition.
